The Rundown: The spaceship Event Horizon is about to make a historic trip, but everyone on board has something to hide.

After losing his wife Claire, Doctor William Weir dives back into his work with a new inspiration from a dark place. An inspiration that will bring him to the completion of his gravity drive. A drive that will fold space and allow a ship to travel any distance in a matter of seconds. A ship known as the Event Horizon will be the first to use this gravity drive and its crew prepares for the initial test.
As the crew reaches their destination, they prepare to power up the gravity drive, but the crew of the Event Horizon have their own issues. Issues that include loss, heartbreak, illness and even murder. As the ship prepares for the first use of the drive, an act of violence will unlock more darkness in the form of an entity with its own investment in the Event Horizon.
The Story: As a huge fan of the film Event Horizon, I am excited to explore the events that lead to the movie and Ward crafts an engaging, dark and spooky story in this first issue. I love seeing the crew of the Event Horizon and how they are entangled in their own secrets, lies and regrets before they even begin the mission. There are some great dramatic moments in the story and the dark entity at the heart of events creates some awesome foreshadowing for what’s to come.
The Art: Jones delivers some beautifully detailed, dark and scary art throughout the issue. I think the visual style of this issue perfectly captures the tone and mood of the story.
